Tiger Time in Chicagoland – a Princeton Friends Reunion
Most years since graduating college, a collection of Princeton friends have reunited at each other’s houses for a weekend to play, reminisce, and continue to be inspired by one another. This year the gathering was in Chicago. I love these reunions, but with a family of four seat-holders now, we weren’t sure we could swing the ticket prices this year. Rather than opt out completely we agreed that Dylan and I would go and represent our family this time. After all, it would be on my birthday weekend. So off we flew–with Dylan clutching his hot pink bear everywhere we went.
This was communal living at its best. With Egg McBuffums for breakfast, and extra hands jumping in to help with dishes or carry an extra kid.
I couldn’t get over how great it was to have 7 adults all working together to keep track of our 7 baby ducklings. One papa would lead a rousing game of “jump up and down —-now pretend you are sleeping” one minute, and the next it was someone else with Ring Around the Rosy (did you know the verse about the cows eating buttercups?)…
Then someone else would inspire a round of jumping jacks, and then another would read a story…Dylan had the time of his life with so many fun people to play with and so much going on.
The two newest additions to this Princeton family were both precious!
And I couldn’t get over little dude’s premeditated kiss during the classic attempt at the kids’ photo. Yes, those cheeks are quite an attraction!
We ventured out for fun times in the yard (until it SNOWED!!! Remember – I’m from California, this was a BIG deal. Snow in early November?!?)
Dylan’s first snow experience…and snow in his hair (AKA “lord help us with his hair”)
The hosts found a Groupon for a bouncy house warehouse. Oh. my. goodness. I think Dylan went up and down this bouncy firetruck 35 times….with every combination of holding hands with and crashing his new friends.
Pretzels on the Periodic Table….start ’em young.
The whole group…minus Tyler and Whitney – – we had a lot of fun but we sure did miss them so much!
